October is Breast Cancer Awareness Month

October is Breast Cancer Awareness Month

According to Miami Matters, 19.6 out of every 100,000 women in Miami-Dade County die due to breast cancer, which is better than Florida's average. Since 1990, the overall breast cancer death rates have been declining due to advancements in treatment and detection. Click here for tips that encourage breast health.

The FIU Herbert Wertheim College of Medicine is excited to lead a team in the 2013 Susan G. Komen Miami/Ft. Lauderdale Race for the Cure®!

Please join us on Saturday, October 19, 2013 at 8:30 a.m.* at Bayfront Park in downtown Miami to walk/run together in the fight against breast cancer.

Employees, students, family and friends are invited to join our team! Visit http://miamiftl.info-komen.org/goto/FIUMedicine to register or donate today!

Susan G. Komen Miami/Ft. Lauderdale supports initiatives at the Herbert Wertheim College of Medicine to promote breast health, early diagnosis and treatment of breast cancer in underserved populations in Miami-Dade County. Together, we are fueling the best science, boldest community and biggest impact in the fight against breast cancer.

Will you please join us in this fight by joining our team or making a donation today?

Participating in the Race for the Cure® as a team multiplies the fun, the laughter and maybe even the tears that you share on Race Day. Rally around someone you know who was just diagnosed, someone who has fought the battle, or someone who may have lost the battle. Together, with your friends, family and co-workers, you make an even greater impact than you could alone.

As a member of this team, you will get a race number, a Susan G. Komen Race for the Cure® t-shirt, and a great feeling!
